What is WPS in the UAE?
The Wage Protection System, run by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation with the Central Bank. Companies pay salaries through an approved bank or exchange house using a Salary Information File (SIF).
Why do WPS files get rejected?
Most often a person code that does not match the ministry record, a wrong IBAN or routing code, amounts not written with two decimals, or totals that do not match the transfer.
How late can salaries be paid?
Salaries are expected in the employee’s account within 15 days of the due date. After that, the ministry starts escalating action, beginning with a stop on new work permits.
